Just a few words from happy customers about the guitars I’ve made for them and repair work I do…
dsc03728 dsc00227 Jan Cyrka – ‘Martha’ and ‘Betsy’ S-Types
‘Having bought ‘Betsy’; a blonde S-Type Eternal Guitar, and being completely blown away by this awesome guitar, I ordered another. Two months later along comes ‘Martha’, another S-Type but this time in three tone sunburst. Both guitars have lightweight Ash bodies and rosewood fingerboards. Both guitars are absolutely amazing! The tone is sublime, the playability is perfect and the look of both instruments is just breathtaking, especially the three tone sunburst. I have quite a few guitars in my collection many of them vintage but these
creations of Daves’ are so extraordinarily good that they put many of my other beloved treasures to shame.
Next up has got to be a Double bound Custom T-Type!!’

et-keef6 Steve Fry, Newcastle – Micawber T-Type
I have had the chance to own and play Micawber for almost a year now and although my initial interest in the guitar was driven by its (great) appearance it has been the playability and tone that has me hooked long term.  Playing in a local covers band in the North East, I need a reliable instrument which can deliver a range of tones that sound authentic in the context of a set of surprisingly diverse classic rock and pop songs, and this is what I have in Micawber.  There is the classic t type bite and twang matched with a full bodied humbucker in the neck position.  And I mean matched as well, there is no annoying volume hike as I switch between the two pickups.  I have owned quite a few instruments over the years by the big manufacturers and I do think that my Eternal guitar is at least a match for them in terms of looks, quality and price, Dave is his own custom shop!
One day I hope to be after you for a fiesta red strat, but until then all the very best.
Cheers,
Steve

Shaun, West Sussex – ’70s Strat restoration
A chance meeeting in a local guitar shop introduced me to the wonderful world of Eternal Guitars!  Since then Dave has worked his magic on my two prized possessions, a 70′s Strat and a 1936 Gibson acoustic – both in need of some TLC following previous botched repair work prior to my ownership.  He sympathetically rescued and restored them to an amazing standard, keeping their character and improving their playability.  The quality of his work cant be overstated….lets face it, the man’s a Genius!

Many thanks again Dave,
Shaun.

Mark Jarratt – Custom Shop Strat refinish

Dave at Eternal did a superb job respraying and relicing my custom shop ’62 strat.
When purchased new from fender, it came in a hideous “lemon cheesecake” colour, with an unpleasant
syrup like lacquer finish which was supposed to make it look like a real Olympic white ’62. Hideous!
He transformed it to the very convincing Olympic white it should have been.
Great relic work, very convincing and top notch set up too.
Mark.
8 John Flemming, West Sussex – Sunburst Micawber T-Type
I first meet Dave when he dressed the frets on my acoustic guitar, he did a really neat job and the guitar looked and played better than ever. The idea of an electric guitar was not something I had entertained before and the look of the old relic’s on Dave’s wall didn’t initially make much of an impression either, but over the months the idea just took root.
I did try a few guitar shops but found the limitless choice of guitars just bewildering, so I went back to the Eternal website and just fell for the idea of an ‘old new’ guitar. It was quite an easy decision in the end – where else could I get a hand crafted guitar set up perfectly and with any changes or modifications I could dream up? The result is a beautiful Sunburst T-Type that brings a smile to my face every time I take it out of the case. It has a really nice balance to it and it plays beautifully with a great range of sounds. To say I am pleased is a bit of an understatement.
It’s about ready for a new set of strings and check over, all part of the service Dave is offering. I can’t bring myself to part with it but new strings, together with Dave’s professional touch in the set up, will be well worth the slight inconvenience.

‘Betty’ Micawber T-Type
dsc03310
Meet Betty, built by the wonderful Dave Walsh of Eternal Guitars.
I had been looking for a Tele for a while, researching and trying out different types (ranging from Squiers all the way through to Fender Custom Shop models) to find ‘the perfect Tele’.
I eventually decided that I was basically after ‘Keef’s’ Micawber, but with a less aged (read battered!) look. I’m not the biggest Stones fan in the world, but I am a fan of old maple neck ash Tele’s with a humbucker in the neck position.
I stumbled across a review of one of Eternal Guitars T-Type’s in Guitar and Bass Magazine. It was really cool to see there was someone in the UK building ‘relic’ style Fenders to such a high standard.
I contacted Dave, and he was really helpful and informative. He was extremely quick to respond to all my queries and questions, and made sensible suggestions and mods to try and get the spec down to what I was after.
After a few emails discussing the spec, I put a deposit down for ‘Betty’ to be built. I had never previously had a custom instrument made exactly to my specifications; I usually just mod cheaper guitars myself until I am happy with them.
The customer service Dave provided was exemplary. He even sent some necks through the post to me to try out before committing to a certain shape. I eventually settle on a ‘V to C’ neck shape; super comfy and perfect for me. I asked for a lightly aged finish, with the neck pickup the ‘right’ way around and also positioned a little further from neck heel than ‘Micawbers’ usually have. The fretboard was also specified at a flatter radius than an original 50′s T-Type.
After a few months, Betty was born!
It (sorry ‘She’ ) plays perfectly. The setup was perfect as soon as I received it; no changes necessary. The finish was also perfect and carried out exactly to my specifications and how I had asked it to look. My favourite pickup setting, strangely, is the middle setting; which used to be my least favourite on Teles. There is definitely a ‘magic’ to HB fitted Tele’s!
I honestly cannot fault this guitar on any level. I can see myself keeping ‘Betty’ forever, and my T-Type requirements have also been well and truly covered!
Hope you like the Pic’s. I would highly recommend Eternal Guitars to anybody. Send Dave an Email see what he can do for you!
Steve, Doncaster
