At its heart is an innovative hybrid magnetic layout, pairing Alnico 5 magnets beneath the wound strings with Alnico 2 magnets beneath the plain strings. The coil is wound with 42 AWG Polysol wire, chosen for its fast transient response, tight bass and exceptional note separation. Polysol gives Equinox its lively, articulate character while allowing the hybrid magnet design to shine.
A copper-plated steel baseplate reinforces the magnetic field, adding sustain, punch and the unmistakable authority expected from a great T-Type bridge pickup.
Each pickup receives a light wax potting, reducing unwanted microphonics while preserving the dynamic response and touch sensitivity that define a hand-wound single coil.
