Originally conceived as a featherweight, PAF-loaded Thinline T-Type, Ruby quickly found herself in the hands of British blues-rock powerhouse Aynsley Lister. While he loved her effortless feel and lively acoustic response, months on the road revealed an opportunity to make an already exceptional guitar even better.
Ruby returned to the workshop for a complete tonal rethink.
Out went the PAF Replica humbuckers. In came a pair of our hand-wound Dreamer P90s, accompanied by independent volume controls, a master tone, and a relocated three-way toggle on the upper horn for effortless on-stage switching.
The result is the Ruby you see here: a lightweight, semi-hollow workhorse with remarkable clarity, punch and versatility. Equally at home delivering sparkling cleans, gritty blues or full-bodied rock tones, she responds beautifully to every nuance of your playing while retaining the warmth and resonance that made the original so special.
Like every Eternal, Ruby is entirely hand-built in England using carefully selected tonewoods, premium hardware and our own hand-wound pickups.
The Sound
Dreamer P90s occupy a wonderfully musical space between traditional P90s and vintage humbuckers.
They retain the unmistakable immediacy and articulation of a great single coil while adding extra body, smoother mids and just enough compression to make every note feel effortless. Clean tones shimmer with depth and harmonic richness, while overdriven sounds develop a vocal quality that seems to encourage expressive playing.
Combined with Ruby's lightweight semi-hollow ash body, the result is a guitar that feels incredibly alive in your hands. Responsive, dynamic and wonderfully balanced, she'll happily cover everything from vintage blues and Americana through to classic rock and modern roots music.
