Sophia is my tribute to those remarkable early instruments.
Built around a featherweight one-piece ash body and a beautifully carved soft V maple neck, Sophia captures everything I love about those pioneering guitars—the effortless resonance, the tactile connection between player and instrument, and the wonderfully open, articulate voice that made them legends.
She isn't about nostalgia for nostalgia's sake.
She's about rediscovering why those guitars inspired generations of musicians in the first place.
Body & Feel
Every great guitar begins with the wood.
Sophia's carefully selected one-piece lightweight ash body delivers exceptional resonance and dynamic response, while the wafer-thin two-tone nitrocellulose lacquer allows the timber to breathe and age naturally. Tasteful ageing and subtle lacquer checking give her the quiet confidence of an instrument that's already lived a musical life.
The one-piece maple neck features a comfortable soft V profile with gently rolled edges and a naturally worn feel that immediately feels like an old friend. A vintage-inspired 7.25" fingerboard radius is paired with Jescar 6100 jumbo frets, combining the charm of an early instrument with effortless bends and modern playability.
The result is a guitar that feels wonderfully familiar from the very first chord.
Timeless '54 Pickups
The earliest single-coil pickups possessed a remarkable honesty.
Bright without ever becoming brittle. Clear, dynamic and wonderfully expressive.
Our hand-wound Timeless '54 pickup set faithfully captures that character using Alnico III magnets, vintage-correct Heavy Formvar wire, lacquer-dipped fibre flatwork and traditional scatter-winding techniques. Like those early pickups, all three coils are wound in the same direction, preserving the authentic response and harmonic complexity that defined the originals.
Expect shimmering highs, vocal mids, piano-like bass and the unmistakable woody attack that responds effortlessly to every nuance of your playing.

Part of Sophia's charm lies in the little things.
The wonderfully rare short-skirt control knobs, distinctive football switch tip, single-ply white pickguard and aged Kluson split-post tuners all celebrate the fascinating quirks found on the earliest production instruments before specifications became standardised.
Most people will never notice them.

A Callaham vintage-style bridge with hardened steel block and bent steel saddles delivers exceptional resonance and tuning stability, while premium CTS, CRL, Switchcraft and cloth-covered wiring ensure decades of dependable performance.
Every component has been chosen because it genuinely contributes to the tone, feel and longevity of the instrument.

A Unique Chapter
Sophia occupies a special place in Eternal's story.
She is one of the very last instruments built with my original Eternal headstock silhouette before I introduced the current design. While every future Eternal will continue to embody the same philosophy of craftsmanship, tone and feel, Sophia represents a unique moment in the evolution of the workshop.
Quite simply...
