Wilma is our latest take on the classic J-Bass formula — understated, elegant, and built with absolute respect for the original design. There’s nothing flashy or unnecessary here, just a beautifully balanced instrument that feels immediately familiar yet unmistakably Eternal the moment you plug it in. Lightweight, resonant, and effortlessly playable, Wilma delivers that timeless offset-bass feel with a voice that sits perfectly in any mix.
The alder body is finished in lightly aged Shell Pink nitrocellulose lacquer, giving her that soft, pastel glow that only improves with time and wear. Paired with a maple neck and rosewood fingerboard, complete with clay dot markers and gently rolled edges, the feel is reassuringly vintage — broken-in without being tired. Vintage-correct Gotoh hardware keeps everything solid, stable, and period-appropriate.
Electronics are handled by a set of our Eternal ’74 J-Bass pickups, hand-wound to capture the character of mid-’70s Jazz basses but with a little extra push under the fingers. The result is a tone that’s warm, articulate, and punchy, with excellent note definition and just enough output to drive a band without losing nuance. Wired through high-quality CTS pots and a Switchcraft output jack, everything feels smooth, responsive, and dependable.
A thoughtful extra touch: beneath the pickguard you’ll find additional routing to allow for a P-Bass pickup in the neck position, should you ever want to convert Wilma into a PJ configuration. As she stands, she looks equally at home with either a parchment or tortoiseshell guard — both work beautifully against the Shell Pink finish.
