Our JM Types are our interpretation of the iconic wide coil offset design of the early 1960s. Familiar in silhouette, but elevated in execution, feel and tone. Built entirely by hand in our Chichester workshop, each instrument is made to order and tailored precisely to the player.
Tone & Feel
JM Types are known for their expansive voice. Piano like lows, open and airy mids, and a glassy but never brittle top end. They handle clean textures beautifully yet respond to drive and fuzz with authority and clarity.
Scale length, neck carve, fret size and radius are all specified to your requirements. Whether you prefer a slim modern carve or a substantial vintage handful, we shape every neck by hand to suit you. Nitrocellulose finishes, subtle ageing options and carefully selected tonewoods ensure resonance, balance and visual character.
Pickups & Electronics
At the heart of every Eternal JM Type are our hand wound Eternal pickups.
Choose from:
- Era correct vintage output wide coils
- Slightly hotter, punchier wind for modern clarity
- Underwound sets for maximum sparkle
- Custom voiced sets built around your rig and style
Traditional rhythm and lead circuit layouts are available, or we can simplify the wiring for players who prefer a more direct, performance focused setup. Master volume and tone, blower switches, series options and bespoke configurations are all possible.
Everything is wired with premium components and assembled with meticulous attention to detail.
